Intel adds eight new entry-level Haswell CPUs

Pentium and Core i3 lineup

Intel has added eight new entry-level LGA1150 dual-core Haswell-based CPUs, four in Pentium and four in Core i3 lineup. The new entry-level lineup is pretty much just a 100MHz speed increase over their predecessors.

The list starts off with the Pentium lineup which includes two 53W and two 35W TDP parts. As noted the entire new lineup are dual-core chips and in Pentium case, all four parts lack Hyper-threading support and pack 3MB of L3 cache. The new lineup includes the Pentium G3250, a dual-core part clocked at 3.2GHz with 1.1GHz GPU, DDR3-1333MHz support, 53W TDP and a US $64 price tag. The next in line is the Pentium G3250T, a dual-core 2.8GHz part with the same 1.1GHz GPU, DDR3-1333MHz support and US $64 price tag but with a lower 35W TDP. The Pentium G3460 is the highest clocked part with 3.5GHz frequency, has the same 1.1GHz GPU but features support for DDR3-1600 memory, US $86 price tag and a 53W TDP. The last of the new Pentium CPUs is the Pentium G3450T, clocked at 2.9GHz, same 1.1GHZ GPU, DDR3-1600 support, US $75 price tag and lower 35W TDP.

The new Core i3 lineup is a bit more different as it includes four dual-core parts with support for Hyper-threading, either 3MB of 4MB of L3 cache, Intel's HD 4400 or HD 4600 graphics and either 54W or 35W TPD. The list starts of with the Core i3-4160, a dual-core part clocked at 3.6GHz with 3MB of L3 cache and HD 4400 graphics clocked at 1150MHz. It also feature support for DDR3-1600 memory, has a 54W TDP and a price of US $117. The Core i3-4160T is clocked at lower 3.1GHz, has 3MB of L3 cache, HD 4400 IGP clocked at 1150MHz, same DDR3-1600 support, same US $117 price tag, but lower 35W TDP. The Core i3-4370 is the top part clocked at 3.8GHz and comes with 4MB of L3 cache. It packs Intel HD 4600 IGP clocked at 1150MHz, DDR3-1600 memory support, 54W TDP and highest US $149 price tag. The last is the Core i3-4360T which is lower clocked 3.2GHz dual-core part with 4MB of L3 cache, 1150MHz clocked HD 4600 GPU, 35W TDP and US $138 price tag.

The price of existing Core i3 and Pentium SKUs has been lowered in order to make room for the new lineup and these new CPUs should go head to head with AMD's recently introduced Kaveri APUs.
