Sony releases Playstation 4 1.75 firmware update

Brings 3D Blu-ray support and more

Sony has just released its latest Version 1.75 firmware update for the Playstation 4 which adds a few minor fixes and also, more importantly, brings 3D Blu-ray support.

Beating the recently announced Xbox One update, which will also bring 3D Blu-ray support, Sony's new firmware update allows users to watch their favorite 3D Blu-ray movies on 3D capable TV without the need for an extra Blu-ray player. The Playstation 3 has been capable of playing 3D Blu-ray movies for quite some time and it was just a matter of time before Sony brings the same functionality to the Playstation 4 as well.

The rest of the updates and fixes with the new Version 1.75 firmware update also include an improved sound quality during 1.5x playback with Blu-ray and DVD discs, change of place for system messages which will now be displayed on the top-left corner of the screen as well as "feature content" which has been added to the PS4 system setting which allows featured content from the Playstation Store to be automatically downloaded while the PS4 is either powered on or in standby mode.

According to the release notes, this is what Sony decided to update but we will surely keep an eye if any more fixes show up.
