Mozilla has a new elected CEO

But the name is the same

2014 has been a rough year for Mozilla, at least when it comes to its CEO position, but it finally looks like the situation is stable, and the temporary CEO has been confirmed in its position.

For those who don't know what happend, back in April the Mozilla CEO, Brandon Eich, had to resign due to the discover of his involvement in an anti-gay movement in California. This position is the exact opposite of what Mozilla wants to spread.

The company couldn't go on without a CEO, so Chris Beard was elected as temporary CEO until a formal election. Finally the company stated that Chris is keeping is position, which is well earned. Chris Beard, in fact, worked for Mozilla since Firefox 1.0, and even though he worked somewhere else for brief periods of time, he spent 9 years as CIO (Chief Innovation Officer) and CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) for Mozilla.

Now he's in the best position to spread the idea of Net Neutrality, and to gain the market share that Firefox deserves. According to NetMarketShare, Firefox is the third most used PC browser, while Internet Explorer is the first one and Google Chrome is the second, while on the mobile market it's almost non existent, with a mere 0.25%. There's a lot of work to do, good luck to the new CEO!
