In the past months there have been many rumors about a possible acquisition of Twitch.tv by Google. Twitch is a multi-streaming platform for gaming content. In other words you can watch your favorite players play in real-time.
Apparently it doesn't happen too often, that companies are being bought for almost 1 billion US-Dollar. With this move, Amazon is strengthening its position in the video entertainment sector and they're becomig fiercer competitors to Google, Apple, Microsoft and all television channels.

Meanwhile Twitch.tv counts more than 55 million active users per month. These incredible numbers have been generated during just a few years. If you'd like to compare these numbers to other gaming related platforms, you find for example that Steam has a user base of 75 million people. This puts the achievement of Twitch.tv into perspective.
