Anonabox makes you anonymous on the Internet

Push your traffic through Tor

A new Kickstarter project has presented a WiFi router that is able to pass all your traffic by a secure and encrypted Tor network. Called the Anonabox, this little WiFi router will allow you to be completely anonymous on the Internet.

If the Anonabox is presented as an Open Source and Open Hardware product, it seems clear that its designers simply used a small Chinese router (from NEXX company) for their project base.

This router is equipped with a 580 MHz clocked CPU, 64 MB of RAM and 8 MB of storage. Anonabox on the other hand integrates an OpenWrt firmware and installs Tor, so that all your traffic passes by its secure network.

Their project needs US $7500 in order to see the light of day and has currently gathered more than US $550,000 in just three days, and it continues to climb. The Anonabox tool may be convenient, but the approach is not very honest, as its announcement talks about a product made from scratch but it is obvious that this is not the case.

If you are interested, you can see more on Kickstarter and it will cost you US $51 (plus $15 for shipping) to receive one in January 2015.
