Assassin's Creed Unity comes with Nvidia GameWorks

Exclusive Nvidia effects for latest Ubisoft game

Nvidia and Ubisoft have always been quite close so the latest video showing Nvidia GameWorks optimizations does not come as a big surprise, but they certainly look impressive.

While next-gen console gamers will be limited to 900p and 30FPS, PC gamers will get to enjoy the game in all of its glory, if they are running the right and powerful hardware, as recent leaked recommended hardware configuration sounded a bit over the top.

According to the latest video and Nvidia post, if you are running a PC with an Nvidia graphics card, you will be able to enjoy some rather neat Nvidia GameWorks optimizations including the Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion Plus (HBAO+), Temporal Anti-alising (TXAA), Percentage-Closer Soft Shadows (PCSS), and GeometryWorks Advanced Tessellation.

The HBAO+ is Nvidia's way of implementing Ambient Occlusion, and in this case, the GPU analyzes the geometry of the scene in order to give as real as possible lighting, and thus overcome the limitations of the Global Illumination.

The TXAA and PCSS have already been seen in the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag game and it mad a perfect sense for Ubisoft to use them in the newest Assassin's Creed title. On the other hand, GeometryWorks Advanced Tessellation is pretty much like the DirectX 11 tessellation, but more suitable to be used alongside the HBAO+ and the PCSS.

In any case, the game looks quite impressive and we will certainly do our best to try it out on maximum settings once the game officially launches on November 11.
