Samsung bundles Far Cry 4 with 840 EVO SSDs

Only in the US for Black Friday

Samsung Electronics America has announced it will be partnering with Ubisoft during Black Friday to offer Far Cry 4 game as a bundle with its Samsung 840 EVO SSD.

To be available on Black Friday and continue until the supplies last, those that buy Samsung's 840 EVO SSD in the USA and at certain participating retailers, will be given a free download code for Ubisoft's Far Cry 4 game. In case you missed the Samsung 840 EVO SSD back in July 2013, you should be glad to know that this is still one of the best performance per buck SSD on the market, at least until Samsung officially launches the 850 EVO.

The list of participating retailers include Best Buy, Amazon.com, NewEgg.com, Microcenter, Fry's, Tiger Direct, B&H and Adorama.

As far as the performance is concerned the 120GB is the slowest of the bunch with 540MB/s and 410MB/s sequential read and write performance and 94K and 35K IOPS 4KB random read and write performance. The 500, 750 and 1000GB models share the same peak 540MB/s and 520MB/s sequential read and write performance as well as 98K and 90K IOPS 4KB random read and write performance. The lone 250GB version has the same sequential read and write performance as the three larger SKUs but suffers from lower 4KB random read and write set at 97K and 66K IOPS.

In any case, this is still a nice deal as you get Ubisoft's Far Cry 4 game for free but it also gives Samsung an opportunity to get rid of the stock before launching the new 850 EVO SSD.
