LiteOn unveils first range of SSDs

For consummer market

LiteOn is a rather big OEM that usually makes products for the other companies. They made SSDs for Plextor and have now decided to unveil its own line of solid-state drives that will be available to consumer market and launched under the Zeta name.

These new Zeta LiteOn SSDs will arrive to the consumer market in three capacities, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The series will line up technologically slightly behind the Plextor M6S series.

With 16nm MLC NAND from SK Hynix and a Silicon Motion SM2246EN controller, their performance will depend on the capacity. The 128 GB model will have read and write sequential speeds of up to 520/150MB/s, the 256 GB will end up at up to 520/290MB/s while the 512 GB will provide up to 520/430MB/s performance. For random 4K read and write performance, the 128GB will end up at up to 67500/37500 IOPS, the 256GB model at up to 82500/72500 IOPS and the 512GB one at up to 83500/80000 IOPS.

Currently, LiteOn Zeta SSD lineup is only advertised for the Chinese market, they appear to cost 56€ for the 128 GB model, 103€ for the 256 GB and 512 GB will be priced at 207€. Unfortunately, there is no info regarding global availability, but hopefully we will see them soon.
