Nvidia GM200 and AMD Fiji XT power numbers show up

More AMD Bermuda XT details as well

While we have already seen early details regarding performance for the upcoming Nvidia GM200 GPU as well as the AMD Fiji XT and Bermuda XT GPUs, we now have first rumors regarding power consumption for both those GPUs as well as a bit more early details regarding AMD's Bermuda XT GPU.

Power consumption is an important piece of the puzzle as while one GPU might have a higher performance, performance per Watt is a bit more important as it influence a lot of other things. Since we are here talking about ultra high-end market segment, power efficiency might not be that important but we are still talking about GPUs that are reaching 250W TDP.

The aforementioned Nvidia GM200 GPU is a cut-down version and not the rumored fully-enabled GM200 GPU, it appears that we are looking at power consumption of around 225W, while AMD's Fiji XT should be set at around 215W. Of course, these are still just early details and some things might change when these GPUs are actually launched, due to final clock settings and other details.

As the performance between the cut-down GM200 and the Fiji XT is quite close, it appears that AMD's Fiji XT might be just a tad bit more power efficient, of course, performance will be on the GM200 side.

As far as Bermuda XT GPU is concerned, things are a bit sketchy, due to the fact that this GPU has not been seen so far, at least not before the leaked benchmarks. There is also a possibility that Bermuda XT and Fiji XT are actually same GPUs, just that Fiji TX is a cut-down version of it, with 4096 Stream Processors, as spotted earlier at Zauba.com.

There is also a possibility, as suggested by Wccftech.com, that these are actually same GPUs which will be manufactured on a different manufacturing process, Fiji XT on 28nm TSMC node and Bermuda XT on the 20nm node from GloFo.

In any case, we will probably hear a bit more about this GPUs once CES 2015 kicks off in January, but we will surely keep our ear close to the ground for more details.
