LG G3 comes with free VR headset in the US

Google Cardboard design

LG is giving away a free virtual reality (VR) headset with the LG G3 smartphone, but only in the US.

Based on the same design as the Google Cardboard, LG's version of the VR headset dock uses plastic instead of cardboard and is called the VR for G3. As it is the case with the Google Cardboard, you simply slide the smartphone inside the headset.

LG has promised that it will provide some content for the device including VR gaming content. Unfortunately, there are still no details if existing LG G3 users will be getting the free VR headset as well.

While this is still the cheapest version of the VR, it will at least give users a taste of the virtual reality without having to pay for the more expensive solutions like Samsung's US $200 Gear VR.

The bundled LG VR headset is currently only limited to the US but we do hope that LG will extend it to Europe as well.
