Wiko overtakes HTC, Huawei and LG in Germany

3.8 percent market share in Germany

During the past two years the French smartphone maker Wiko has managed to create quite a buzz around their aggressively priced phones. Recenet numbers from German market research institute GfK show that Wiko has 3.8 percent market share in Europes most significant market.

According to Wiko themselves they're already the number two player in France ranking directly behind Samsung. Wiko is very successful in putting together smartphones in the price range of 100 to 300 Euro. The Specs are usually very reasonable but it's never the case, that the internals outpace flagship models from other smartphone vendors.

A closer look at Wikos current portfolio shows, that with phones like the "Rainbow", "Jimmy" and "Ridge 4G" the company is attacking in the entry-level market. These Android based phones feature highly attractive price points and bang for the buck you do really get a lot from these devices. Apart from that Wiko just launched the "Highway Star" as well as the "Highway Pure" and these two are basically their flagship models. Both phones ship with an LTE module, a 64 Bit SoC and Android 4.4.4 KitKat and the cost about 300 Euro.

In our opinion Wiko is one of the most interesting smartphone vendors to follow these days. They have understood that right now diversification is happening in the smartphone markets and by pushing with compelling offers in the entry to mid-range-sector their now securing their position.
