According to latest rumors from Hermitage Akihabara it looks like Plextor is going to launch a new line of SATA SSDs. The drives will go by the name M6V and they're supposed to launch on the 17th of July. These SSDs will be based on a controller, which comes from Silicon Motion.

To be a bit more precise on the specs, there will be a SMI-2246 controller from Silicon Motion, which Plextor combines with A19 TLC NAND from Toshiba. A closer look at the different versions of the drives shows, that they will be available with 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB capacity and the drives will feature 128 MB, 256 MB or 512 MB of DRAM cache.

When it comes to the actual performance numbers 535 MB/s is what the drives should be able to deliver when performing sequential reads. Sequential write performance is at 170 MB/s for the 128 GB model, 335 MB/s in the case of the 256 GB drive and 455 MB/s regarding the 512 GB SSD. All drives support common features like NCQ, TRIM and native 256 bit AES encryption.

Unfortunately there is no information on the pricing yet. Since the drives should launch in three days from now we should soon see them listed in the usual price comparison engines.
