ASRock unveils DDR4/DDR3 100-series combo motherboards

Making Skylake upgrade easier

In addition to plenty of Z170, H170, H110, Q170, Q150 and B150-chipset based motherboards, ASRock has announced a couple of Combo motherboards that will support both DDR3 and DDR4 memory, making upgrade a bit easier.

To be precise, ASRock announced a total of 29 motherboards based on the new Intel H170, H110, Q170, Q150, and B150 chipsets, but what caught our eye are Combo motherboards, the H170 Combo, B150 Combo, B150M Combo-G, and the H110M Combo-G. Although having pretty much identical specifications as the other ASRock motherboards based on the same chipset, these will be equipped with both DDR3 and DDR4 memory slots.

The full ATX versions will feature four DDR3 and two DDR4 slots while micro-ATX versions will have two of each.

This certainly makes an upgrade to Skylake platform a bit easier as those looking to upgrade can save a bit of money by reusing DDR3 memory from their current platform.

ASRock also has plenty of motherboards that only come with support for DDR3 memory and with 29 motherboards in the lineup there will be plenty of choice.

You can check out full specifications from a table provided by Tomshardware.com.
