AMD announces Pro A-Series processors for business

AMD has unveiled its new line of AMD Pro A-Series mobile and desktop processors aimed at business users.


To be available in select notebooks and desktop systems from OEMs like HP and Lenovo, the new AMD Pro A-Series mobile and desktop CPUs will, according to AMD, offer longer battery life, power and efficiency optimized to meet the needs of enterprise computing as well as offer some key features like AMD Energy Saver, PC Health Center, USB Blocker and Wireless Display.

There are plenty of AMD Pro A-Series SKUs to choose from including ten different Pro A-Series desktop APUs, ranging from AMD A4 Pro-7300B to Pro A10-8850B and four notebook AMD Pro A-series SKUs, ranging from AMD Pro A6-8500B to the high-end AMD Pro A12-8800B.




AMD was quite keen to note that the AMD Pro A12-8800B is the fastest AMD Pro notebook processor with 3.4GHz maximum frequency, 12 Compute Cores (4 CPU and 8 GPU) and the only AMD Pro mobile processor with Radeon R7 graphics with up to 800MHz GPU clock and 512 Stream Processors.




According to AMD, the new AMD Pro mobile A-Series lineup are the first commercial processors in the industry designed to be compliant with Heterogeneous Systems Architecture (HSA) 1.0 specification, first ARM TrustZone capable APUs, first performance APUs with true SoC design and first commercial processors with High-Efficiency Video Compression (HEVC) decoder capability.

The desktop AMD Pro A-Series will also offer AMD Quick Stream PRO which eliminates lag in latency-sensitive applications like VoIP and video streaming.

According to AMD, the AMD Pro A-Series mobile processors will be available as of today in select HP Elitebook 705 series, including HP EliteBook 725, 745 and 755 series while the AMD Pro A-Series desktop processors will also be available as of today in the Lenovo M79 Tower, HP EliteDesk 705 Micro Tower PCs and various Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs from both HP and Lenovo.
