Intel Skylake-based Pentium CPU hits retail

Intel Pentium G4500T

It appears that Intel's latest affordable Pentium CPU based on the new Skylake architecture has started to appear in retail and is now sold in Japan, the Intel Penitum G4500T.

The Pentium G4500T CPU is a dual-core CPU clocked at 3.0GHz, lacks Hyper-Threading support, has 3MB of L3 cache, supports dual-channel DDR3L/DDR4 memory and features Intel HD Graphics 530 IGP. The TDP is set at 35W and it costs US $75 in 1000-unit quantities.

According to a report from Akiba PC Hotline, the Pentium G4500T is available in the Akihabara shopping district for ¥10300, which is about US $86.

Unlike the Haswell-based Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition chip, the Skylake-based Pentium G4500T does not have an unlocked multiplier but also has more cache, better memory support and lower TDP.

Hopefully, Intel will make a chip similar to the Anniversary Edition but based on the new Skylake architecture, which could easily become a favorite chip for overclockers.
