Microsoft acquires Havok from Intel

Another tool for game development

After being bought by Intel about eight years ago, Havok, a company behind 3D physics software, has been now acquired by Microsoft.

According to Microsoft, the new acquisition will add Havok's Physics engine to a list of already owned game development tools, including DirecX, Visual Studio and Azure.

In case you somehow missed it, Havok physics engine has been behind over 600 big titles on both the PC and console platforms, including Call of Duty series, Halo, Half-Life 2, Assassin's Creed and more.

Microsoft announced that it will continue licensing Havok tools to third-party developers and considers to include Havok in its Azure cloud services.
