AMD's dual Fiji XT flagship graphics card spotted

Possibly called the Radeon R9 Gemini

The upcoming flagship graphics card from AMD which will feature two fully enabled Fiji GPUs has been spotted in shipping manifest under Radeon R9 Gemini name.

The leaked Radeon R9 Gemini name makes sense due to AMD's new naming scheme seen earlier with Fury and Nano graphics cards, but it is still to early to talk as AMD might change it to Fury X2 or something different.

According to the leaked shipping manifest, the Fiji Gemini has been shipped from AMD headquarters in Canada and also shows that AMD is still sticking to the Cooler Master all-in-one (AiO) liquid cooling solution. Since it bears the FOC tag, this suggest the aforementioned dual Fiji graphics card is already in hands of some reviewers, so are bound to hear more soon.

Earlier rumors suggested that we are looking at a graphics card with two fully-enabled Fiji GPUs so it will end up with 8192 Stream Processors and 128 CUs. Since the R9 Fury X had 8.6TFLOPS of performance, the dual-GPU solution could end up at around 17.2 TFLOPS.

The upcoming Radeon R9 Gemini, which would be a cool launch name, will most likely be branded as the highest-end graphics card that will be able to run anything at over 60FPS at 4K/UHD resolution and even cope with virtual reality (VR) gaming with Oculus Rift and AMD Liquid VR.

The shipping manifest also shows the value of the Radeon R9 Gemini with a price per unit of 125350 INR, which converts to around US $1073. This suggest that the launch price could start at around US $1100, but it is quite to early to confirm this.

Hopefully we will hear more about Radeon R9 Gemini soon.
