Microsoft unveils the new Surface Pro 4

Better screen, Skylake CPUs and better accesories

Since most devices have leaked before the official Windows 10 event, Microsoft's new Surface Pro 4 tablet was not a big surprise but we still had a chance to see a bit more details regarding it.

Microsoft described the new Surface Pro 4 as thinner, lighter and faster version of the previous generation of Surface tablet.

Calling it the tablet that can replace your notebook, the Surface Pro 4 is up to 30 percent faster than Surface Pro 3, mostly thanks to the new Skylake CPUs. Measuring at 292.1x201.4x8.45mm and weighing 766g or 786g, depending on the CPU, the Surface Pro 4 will feature a magnesium chassis, same kickstand as the Surface Pro 3 and will be only available in silver color choice.

The new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is designed around a 12.3-inch PixelTouch display with 2736x1824 resolution (267ppi), 10-point multi-touch with GPU processing, 100% sRGB color gamut with individual calibration and 1300:1 contrast ratio. It will be available with several Intel Core Skylake CPUs including Core m3, Core i5 and Core i7 options with Intel HD Graphics 515, HD Graphics 520 or Iris graphics.

The rest of the features include up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of SSD storage, up to 9 hours of battery life, standard connectivity including 802.11ac WiFi, 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear and front cameras, USB 3.0 port and mini-DisplayPort output.

The Surface Pro 4 comes with a new Surface Pen, which has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and will feature interchangeable tips and several different versions. The Surface Pro 4 will also come with a new Type Cover featuring backlit keys with new switches and 40 percent larger touchpad.

The Surface Pro 4 tablet is already available for pre-order with price starting at US $899 and should ship on October 26th.
