ASUS unveils 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti

Might be the fastest GTX 980 Ti on the market

ASUS has announced its newest version of the GTX 980 Ti graphics card, this time as a part of its 20th Anniversary Gold Edition series, which promises to be the fastest GTX 980 Ti on the planet, even without liquid cooling.

Based on the same Nvidia Maxwell GM200 GPU, with 2816 CUDA cores, 176 TMUs, 96 ROPs and 6GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface, as any other GTX 980 Ti on the market, the new ASUS 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti is made using ASUS new Auto-Extreme technology. This allowed ASUS to push the new GTX 980 Ti to a rather incredible 1,266MHz GPU base and 1,367MHz GPU Boost clock, making it the fastest GTX 980 Ti on the market, according to ASUS.

ASUS compares the clock to its ROG Matrix GTX 980 Ti which was clocked at 1,216MHz base and 1,317MHz GPU Boost clocks.

In addition to a high factory-overclock, the new ASUS 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti also comes with some ASUS exclusive features like the Memory Defroster for LN2 overclocking, color-coded Load Indicator for GPU load level and Safe Mode for VBIOS reload.

The new ASUS 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti is cooled by ASUS' well known DirectCU II cooler with 0dB fan technology which keeps the fans disabled under general use. According to ASUS, it is up to 30 percent cooler and three times quieter compared to the reference GTX 980 Ti under intensive gaming.

Unfortunately, ASUS did not reveal any information regarding the price or the availability date for the new 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti graphics card.
