Sony unveils SLW-M series consumer SSDs

Based on Phison S10 controller and Toshiba A19 TLC NAND

It appears that Sony wants a piece of consumer SSD market as its new SLW-M series of SSDs has been spotted in Japan, packing a Phison S10 series controller paired up with Toshiba A19 TLC NAND.

According to known details, the Sony SLW-M series SSD will be based on a standard 7mm-thick 2.5-inch form factor with SATA 6Gbps interface and available in 240GB and 480GB capacities.

Spotted at Hermitage Akihabara via Techpowerup.com, the Sony SLW-M SSD series uses Phison S10 series (mos likely rebranded PS3110 controller) paired up with Toshiba's A19 TLC NAND flash.

These specifications should be enough to offer sequential performance of up to 560MB/s for read and up to 530MB/s for write and will be bundled with Sony's SSD Toolbox as well as a 9.5mm spacer.

While the worldwide availability or the price are still unknown, we are quite sure that this one will show up in retail/e-tail soon and we would not be surprised to see it end up marketed as the perfect SSD for Sony's Playstation 4 console.
