Intel Skylake-EP 32-core CPU spotted again

The Xeon E5-2699 V5 CPU

Intel's new Skylake-EP Xeon E5 lineup should be coming in mid-2017 and today we have another leak showing the Xeon E5-2699 V5 CPU, which is a massive 32-core, 64-thread SKU.

Although it is still in the engineering sample stage, the Xeon E5-2699 V5 leaked over at Chinese retail site shows a bit more details, including the size of the new LGA 3647 socket.

According to the leak, the chip comes with 32 cores and 64 threads, which is an impressive core increase compared to the 22-core Xeon E5-2699A V4 SKU that has been recently announced. The ES sample works at 2.1GHz base clock.

As we wrote earlier, the new Skylake-EP platform will come with a new LGA 3647 socket with 3647 pins and it is surrounded with 12 DDR4 memory slots as it will bring six-channel memory support as well as support for Intel's Optane DIMMs, based on 3D X-Point memory.

Intel will put its new Skylake-EP lineup against AMD's upcoming Zen-based Naples platform next year, so the server market will be quite interesting next year.
