Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth announced

Brings support for AMD Mantle

Firaxis has announced its latest Sid Meier's Civilization game which will come to Linux, Mac and Windows PC this fall and take the series to the stars and space, pulling back from standard Civilization history concept we have seen so far. On the hardware side, the game will support AMD's Mantle API as well as DirectX 11 making the game playable event with AMD's Kaveri APUs.

While all previous Civilization games were grounded and focused on human history, the new Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth will focus on the future. While this would make the game a bit more close to Sci-fi fans, there are still a lot of unknowns which either can make it the best game out there or ruin the whole Civilization experience.

On the hardware side, the new Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth will support AMD's Mantle API which should make the game playable even on AMD's Kaveri APUs at reasonable 1080p resolution and with plenty of eye-candy. Mantle API support will reduce the CPUs role in the game and should benefit all APUs.

The new Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth is scheduled to come this fall with a price tag of US $49.99.
