Build quality

The build quality of this keyboard is absolutely excellent. All the materials used, starting from aluminum, coming to all plastic, give you a feeling of quality. Since the Raptor K50 is based on the Corsair's Vengeance keyboards you get a thick aluminium plate, which makes the keyboard very solid. Apart from that there is the high weight which gives you that extra trust in the quality of a product.

Design

The design is simply sublime. As we already mentioned, the K50 is based on the chassis of the K70 and K90 and therefore the K50 is a little masterpiece. Corsair has been able to perfectly mix design elements, such as the aluminium body and the rigid looks. If you like rubber dome keys that is to a certain extent a matter of taste. Never the less, in the aluminium chassis they feel a little more responsive than in a plastic chassis, which always have a tendency to bend. It is very nice to see, that Corsair is trying hard to make sure even the details are well done. There is really only one point we can criticise: it would have been nice if the wrist rest was a bit bigger.

Software

The software provided by Corsair is intuitive and features a clean GUI, there aren't too many functions but there is certainly everything you need. The backlight adjustment allows you to change the color of the keyboard with ease, and since you can select from an almost infinite number of different colors, we're certain that you'll find a suitable one. We would have love to see a CD or a small memory stick in the deliver with the software on it. Basically we find it a bit annoying if you first have to head to a manufacturers website to then search for the product and afterwards download the software.

Perfomance

This keyboard offers high precision while typing, and once you got used to the G-keys, you will find it very comfortable. During the gaming sessions the Raptor K50 will excel, when it comes to MMORPG's, and the backlight makes sure you find all the key also in the dark.

Price

The new Corsair K50 Raptor is available on geizhals.de for about 79 euro plus shipping. Corsair is definitely not a cheap brand, but it is very hard to find another keyboard that comes with the same amount of features, while maintaining a competitive price tag.
