Fazit

With the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Gigabyte created a very solid motherboard which already copes very well with DDR3. Therefore we weren't able to encounter any problems regarding memory incompatibilities.

The motherboards key components are clearly arranged and the board also looks very nice if there wasn't a green IDE connector which would have been prettier if it had been whit or light blue. The Power-, Reset- and clr-CMOS buttons are very practical even if they aren't positioned perfectly. In the case we would wish that we could have found them in the bottom right corner.

The Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P delivers solid performance figures wheras memory intense applications perform very well compared to the competitors. If we look at 3DMark as well as gaming performance the MA790FXT-UD5P has its ups and downs. In this case you'll also find motherboards which are consistently faster.

Overclocking definitely is no foreign word for the MA790FXT-UD5P. Therefore it comes with a wide palette of settings regarding the BIOS. It is also very easy to set it up. Even under extreme overclocking conditions the MA790FXT-UD5P does a very well job. At 1.7 volts CPU current it only showed 0.004 volts aberration which is mainly down to the very solid eight plus two phase power design.

Summarizing we can state that Gigabyte created an optimal motherboard with the MA790FXT-UD5P which especially suits gamers and overclockers need. The performance is good and overclockers will enjoy the ease it accepts the settings.

Gigabytes GA-MA790FXT-UD5P can be bought at Digitec for CHF 203.- (EUR 135.-).
