Conclusion

The PC-O8 from Lian Li is an absolute high-end case. It features a simply perfect build quality and very nicely crafted aluminum parts and the solid construction as well as the thick side panels and the tempered glass add to the high quality feel. Apart from that the vendor made sure to keep this case as small as possible yet allowing the installation of EATX motherboards. If you plan on equipping this case with custom water cooling gear, you’ll have to properly think about which gear you want to place where, since this isn’t the easiest case to work with. It does offer good flexibility but since there isn’t too much space you will have to try something every here and there. If you want to put a triple radiator behind the motherboard tray you’ll have to first wire the motherboard to the PSU, since otherwise you won’t be able to route the PSU cables from through the grommets to the right of the motherboard. The situation wont’ get any better if you decide on using a powerful and large PSU. This way there will be even less space between radiator and power supply.

If you’re planning on building an air cooled rig using this case you can definitely put something together that looks absolutely stunning. There is plenty of space available but we would really recommend to remove the fans or go for the PC-O8S, which ships without fans and LED lighting. Apart from that we kindly ask Lian Li to either equip this case with fans that features 4 pin headers or to make another revision of this case with a fan controller. The fans used in this case are simply too noise for such an expensive product. What we really liked is the integrated RGB LED lighting. Once connected to the control unit and put in place, you very easily “mix” any color you want.

If you’re looking for an absolute high-end case with brilliant build quality and looks, then we can definitely recommend this case. It’s just a pity that Lian Li isn’t using better fans. If you want to build a custom water cooled system we recommend you to think well about what gear you want to place where. Nevertheless we think it’s totally worth to invest the time and make a beautiful, custom water cooled system based on this case. Checking prices we find the PC-O8 in the US with prices starting at 389 US-Dollar whereas prices in Europe start at 429 Euro including VAT. Bottom line this case deserves 4 out of 5 stars.
