Setup
If you plug the Fritz!Box 7490 to your home network to then access it for the first time, the setup assisstent is going to be launched. It will help you to safely navigate through the divers options you're being presented during the setup process. You might hold for a brief moment when you see the question whether your DSL connection complies with Annex A or Annex B standard, should that be of any importance to you. Apart form this more technical detail everything is as simple as it gets and well explained on top. In the end the Fritz!Box 7490 is very easy to setup and it will therefore work flawlessly straight out of the box, as long as you do not have a network topology that requires you to deactivate the Fritz!Box 7490's DHCP. In this case it's highly recommended to set the Fritz!Box 7490 up in a separate subnet. That way you can ensure you always have access to it, which is the case as long as you always do what the device tells you to. Once you're done with the basic setup process, which in this case should not take you any longer than five minutes, you then might want to do some googling to find wheren and how to deactivate the DHCP. If you jump the gun and think you're smart enough to find the right setting, we can tell you that it's pretty hidden and to part also bit couter intuitive. For such application we would have love the option of an "Expert Mode", which you can select before starting the setup assisstent, to then configure everything manually.
