As soon as you lift the K95 Platinum RGB, you realize how sturdy and solid it actually is. Corsair has created a keyboard that gives a sense of maximum quality to the user at any given time. The keyboard is made from different plastic materials and there is also an aluminum face-plate, which is typical for Corsair keyboards. Apart from that the palm rest features a soft-touch surface. A closer look at the keycaps reveals a loosely sanded plastic surface, that is smooth to touch even if you have sweaty finger tips. This latest version of the K95 finally comes with an additional USB port. Nevertheless we would have like to find a second USB port and maybe even two mini-jack pass-throughs. The new CherryMX RGB Speed switches feel very similar to the Cherry Red's. We noticed that we were able to type between five to ten percent quicker with this keyboard then with other CherryMX Red models. Comparing the new RGB switches to the Red ones, we would say, the RGBs are softer while typing. After an intense day of typing, we also felt less pain in the joints. Apprently the same applies for an intense day of gaming.

The flip side of the K95 Platinum RGB is not really special. There is an even surface made from plastic and in each corner there is a big rubber foot. Apart from that there are also two stand-offs which allow you to incline the keyboard. We actually like it when the keyboard is not glued to the desktop, since we're the type of gamers/typists who like to move the keyboard around every now and then and that is perfectly possible with the K95 Platinum RGB.
