Headphone
In order to really convince, a headset doesn't just have to be comfortable, what's most important is how it sounds. To test the HS70 Wireless 7.1 Virtual Surround we've been listening to music, playing games and watching movies. Since Corsair equipped this headset with big, enclosing and simil leather padded ear cups there is some passive noise cancelling but you can still hear ambient noise or other people talking next to you pretty well.
Despite our initial fears, the HS70 Wireless 7.1 Virtual Surround headset was a rather pleasant surprise and the sound is, in our opinion, well balanced. During our tests we found that it has great reproduction of high, mids and bass, and Corsair certainly did a good job from this point of view. Only on high-volume, we found some distortion in the audio quality. If you love the deep and pumped bass, you can still raise the tone through the equalizer.
Microphone
The microphone on this headset is nothing remarkable but it isn't bad either. It's placed on a flexible and removable arm, the support is very flexible and with memory effect. As you can see from the pictures there is a small button on the left ear cup, which is easily accessible and allows you to mute the microphone. Last but not least a female voice will inform you everytime that you enable or disable the microphone.
