Overclocking

Bus frequency overclocking

For the following tests we started with the memory set to 1066 MHz with 8-8-8-24 timings at 1.65 Volt. To determine wether the system was stable or not we were using the CPU test of Futuremarks 3DMark 06. To enter the different setting we use both the BIOS as well as eOC from ECS (more info on the review's Thread in the forum).

  Higher is better

Even with higher northbridge, Southbridge and memory voltages and further decreasing the NB and memory ratio, the board didn't pass the 310MHz. But never the less 310 MHz is an excellent result.

CPU Overclocking

For this test we kept the previous settings:

  • NBFreq : 7 x 200 MHz
  • HTFreq : 2 x 200 Mhz
  • MemoryFreq : 2.66 x 200 Mhz @ 8-8-8-24, 1.68 V
  • CPUFreq : 16 x 200 Mhz

In this test we also used eOC as well as the BIOS to do the overclocking.

DFI LanParty DK 790FXB-M3H5 4'350 107.41 %
ECS A890GXM-A2 4'275 105.55 %
ASUS M4A78-HTPC (DDR2) 4'050 100.00 %
  Higher is better

The highest frequency which we reached stably was 4'275 MHz. Therefore we needed to provide the CPU with 1.5 Volt. To obtain overclocking results which are as comparable as possible we set northbridge and the HT multiplyer to 10. The memory frequency we tried to keep as close to 800 MHz as possible.
