Technical data / specifications

The ASUS EAH 6990 has been built according to AMDs reference design which features a massive dual slot cooler and a back plate to cover and protect the cards PCB. It's not like the predecessor, the Radeon HD 5970 which was a dual 5870 with much lower frequencies. This time AMD put two Radeon HD 6970 GPUs onto one single PCB. With a total of 3'072 Shader units, 4 GByte of GDDR5 memory and the original clock speeds from the HD 6970 except the memory being clocked at 5'000 MHz instead of 5'500 MHz this thing really is a monster. Furthermore the Radeon HD 6990 comes with two BIOS: the first one clocks the core at 830 MHz with 1.12 V for ending up with a TPD of 350W. The second BIOS clocks the core at 880Mhz at 1.175 V and the TDP ending up at a massive 450W.
