Like its predecessor the P67A-UD5-B3, the Z68X-UD5-B3 really is able to convince us. Also with this board you get Gigabytes new color scheme which in our opionion is the best looking at the moment. The layout has been very well thought too and there is almost nothing that could have been better.
In our opinion Gigabyte made a reasonable descision concerning the video outputs you can get with Z68 based motherboards. On the UD5 you wont find any of them. If customers pay more than CHF 200 for a board they will buy a dedicated graphics card or they'll already own one. If furthermore, you consider that Lucids Virtu Software is a flop there are even more pro arguments supporting this descision.

Layout   + -
Generally the Gigabyte Z68X-UD7-B3s layout is very well thought. Once more very practical are the angled SATA connectors as well as the power-, reset as well as CLR-COMOS button. Unfortunately there is no debug display which could become very useful in case you should have issues with a component in your system or the board itself. Furthermore the placement of the PCI-Express x16 and PCI-Express x8 slots is well thought too. Inbetween them there are two additional slots - a PCI-Express x1 and a legacy PCI slot - which means that it's even possible to build a SLI/CrossFire Setup with triple slot cards. The only thing we didn't like about the layout concerns the PCI-Express x1 slot right next to the northbridge cooler. It has been place that close the it's almost useless.

  - Angled SATA connectors
- Onboard Power/Reset/CLR-CMOS-Buttons

- PCI-Express x1 slot too close to the northbridge cooler - No Debug display
