Conclusion

Build quality

Tesoro's Shirke is a high quality product. The build quality is on a high level and if you for example take it in you hand and squeeze it firmly you won't hear creaking noises. We also liked the buttons which feature a reasonably chose click resistance. Furthremore endurance should be on a level that even excessive MMO gamers should be able to enjoy this product.

Design

Regarding the design we were reminded of Tesoro's Durandal keyboard we've reviews about a week ago. We really like it when a manufacturer provides different products with a very similar design. Of course design is a mattar of subjectivity, but when something is done in a nice and decent way on several different products, then it make it much more likely that you buy several products from one manufacturer instead of only one product.

Software

The software is well structured and easy to use. We liked the possibility to import and export profiles, which is very useful in case of backup or sharing with friends. One note about the lack of integration with other Tesoro's software: each device creates its own icon in the tray bar, so if you have a mouse and keyboard you will have two icons displayed. In the end we would love to see two things changed: first of all there is the software integration and the second thing concerns the fact, that apart from the software, you just don't get a hint which DPI setting you're using when the software is in the tray icon.

Perfomance

It's a well known fact, that the Avago 9600 is a very good laser sensor for up to date mice. The maximum resolution of 5600 DPI is well chosen and it should be enough for any kind of gamer. Furthermore we like the glide pads Tesoro is using. They are made from Teflon and they are quite big. If you combine this mouse with a plastic or an aluminium mousepad, that features a fine structure, then you'll experience excellent gliding characteristics with very little friction. Since this mouse features a medium size body it perfectly suites medium sized hands. It is also the case, that this mouse has been designed for right-handed users. If these two things are given, then ergonomics are on a very good level.

Price

The price of the Shrike is CHF 59.90 or about 50 Euro. In terms of value, it is certainly a product, that features an excellent price/performance ratio.
Tesoro Shrike H2L gets four out of five stars.
