The most interesting feature of the Recon is definitely its body, which made from parts with different grip as well as rough and smooth surfaces. The shape is pretty classic with average dimensions, with well-researched materials and like usual, there is a lot of attention to details. The rough and porous surfaces ensure an excellent grip, while the smooth top with its almost velvety finish makes the mouse very comfortable right from the beginning. The shape and arrangement of buttons make the mouse symmetrical and usable by both right and left-handed gamers/users. On both profiles, there are two buttons to operate with your thumb. The wheel, which is made of plastic and covered almost entirely with rubber, is big, strong and provides excellent grip as well as tactile feedback. Right behind the wheel, there are two illuminated buttons to increase/decrease the DPI. On the back of the mouse there is the CM Storm logo, which can glow in red, green or blue color while plugged into a running PC.

Back

Recon is not a laser mouse but rather sticks to an optical sensor, the Avago ADNS-3090. It features a resolution of 4000 DPI and can be adjusted in 800DPI steps. Close to the sensor, there are three large glide pads arranged in a way which ensures a low friction but good maneuverability. Despite being a gaming mouse you can't adjust the weight, however, the Recon is already well balanced and very light. The cable, which is 1.8 meters long has not been sleeved but the USB connector is gold plated.
