With the MS-3, Func has an elegant rodent in its portfolio, which offers programmable buttons as well as a state of the art sensor. Other than that there should also be a decent software allowing seemless configuration. Overall we're quite curious to find out what this little thing can do.
On the following pages we will show you the strengths and weaknesses of the Func MS-3.

Closer Look
One
of the first things you will notice is the very wide body of the MS-3 from Func.
On the right hand side, there is space for the ring finger as well as the little
finger to rest and grip the mouse comfortably. This design is most suitable for
gamers who use the two main buttons with their index finger and their middle
finger. People who have the middle finger on the mouse wheel and the ring finger
on the right main button will feel lost with this quite big mouse. Another
result of this asymmetric body is the fact, that this mouse is only suitable for
right handed users.
Bottom side
Taking
a look at the bottom side of this well fed rodent, we see a state-of-the-art
Avago ADNS-9500 sensor, located in the front third of the body. In our opinion
this gives very direct control. Furthermore the ADNS-9500 sensor is capable of
resolving with up to 9'800 DPI. Also on the bottom side of the MS-3 you find big
glide pads, which have been made from teflon and offer homogenous gliding
characteristics on even surfaces.

Software
Included in the delivery you find a
little manual and a CD that contains the driver as well as the software. You can
also download the latest version of the software for the MS-3 from Func's
website, but we still like it,when manufacturers put a CD, DVD or a USB-Stick
with the driver into the box.
As we can see from the screenshots above
Func has created a really decent user interface for its software. It looks like
the manufacturer has put quite some effort into creating a seemless and pleasing
software, that allows simple and quick configuration. It's for example very easy
to configure the ten buttons you get with the MS-3. Apart from that you can
program macros, using the macro editor. There is even an option to make the
mouse wheel and the thumb button light in any color you like.

Conclusion
Build quality
The build quality of the Func MS-3 is excellent. Plastics match perfectly and they're also
from high quality. During the hardest match you won't be able to hear any noise from this mouse, you can
treat it in almost any way you want and it will take the beating.
Design
The design is perfectly in line with other products from
Func. With an overall high build quality, well chosen materials, Func is able to
create a decent design which leaves a lasting impression. We really like the
fact, that Func chose to go the path of creating a decent product instead of
providing it with a flamboyant design.
Software
Func's software is a pleasant surprise. It's well structured, easy, elegant and
filled with tons of options. You can change almost everything, and you won't need
a lot of time to find the right settings, so take your time and have fun!
Perfomance
As we've
mentioned already the Func MS-3 features an ADNS 9500 sensor from Avago. The 9500
is an excellent sensor but it's not the very latest model from Avago. Maximum DPI are 5600. The Func MS-3 performs
well in every single area of use, the only issues you may find is comfort, when
it comes to very long gaming sessions. The MS-3 is a really big gaming mouse -
luckily it's not too heavy - and if you are used to standard mice you may need a little time to
get comfortable with the MS-3. Buttons are well positioned around the mouse, only the two ones
in close proximity to the scroll wheel may be a little bit tricky to get used to.
Price
The Func MS-3 goes for 71.- Swiss Francs or
about 59 Euro. This rodent certainly isn't cheap, but if you want a really good
mouse with decent software, then the MS-3 should be considered.
