Should you be looking for a custom watercooling kit, then you should certainly hop over to Aquatuing and have a look at products they sell. The full line provider has everything you need in its portfolio and there are also ready-made kits for less experienced users. Today it is one of these kits we're having a look at and we're obviously going to tell you what it is capable of.
On the following pages we're going to show you what
Aquatunings water-cooling kit, which is based on an Alphacool NexXxoS XP3 CPU
cooler, an Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 360 millimeter radiator and a Laing pump with
reservoir is capable of.

EK Water Blocks Kit L360
This watercooling kit from
Aquatuning ships with an Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 360 millimeter radiator, an
Alphacool NexXxoS XP3 CPU cooling block as well as transparent tubing with an inner diameter of 10 millimeter and an outer diameter of 13 millimeter.

Alphacool NexXxoS XP3 Waterblock
With the Alphacool NexXxoS XP3, Aquatuning has a copper based cooler in its portfolio which offers decent cooling performance at a very competitive price point. The latter is being achieved by using a cost optimized manufacturing process. Furthermore the
XP3 can look back to a long history. All the way back in 2004, Alphacool released their first NexXxoS cooler. Compared to the predecessor the NexXxoS XP3 features an improved flow rate as well better cooling performance. The cooler comes with an array of very thin micro-channels through which the water is being "shot". Those thin channels provide maximized cooling area for more efficient heat transfer. A closer look at the base plate shows that the surface has been lapped, but it doesn't haven an absolutely perfect finish.
Alphacool NexXxos UT60 360 Millimeter
The Alphacool
NexXxos UT60 360 millimeter radiator is one excellent product. Alphacool is
making sure, that absolutely everything is made from copper. Even the screws to attach the
fans are made from copper to avoid galvanic corrosion. Certainly, such an amount
of copper isn't cheap and in fact this radiator weights a whopping 1.7 kilogram
and it received a perfect white paintjob on the outside, whereas for the fins you
can see the copper shimmering through. The latter means, that the coating isn't
to thick and therefore, the heattransfer should be as it can be. A closer
look at the fins shows, that there are small slots, which cause a lot
of vortex once the air passes through. This is yet another point that shows,
this
radiator is all about performance. In order to avoid air bubbles inside the oval
water channels, there are two reservoirs, which equally flood the channels
attached.
Checking the height shows that it measures 60 millimeter and it is therefore
thicker than most other rads. When it comes to threads we find G1/4 inch ones.
These are compatible to a wide range of fittings. Fans can be attached on both
sides of the radiator, which means that you can install a maximum of six fans.

Laing DDC Reservoir and Pump
Regarding the reservoir,
Aquatuning is using a unit, which has been made from acrylic glass entirely. Thanks to the fact, that the reservoir has been very well manufactured, all parts fit perfectly. Nevertheless you should be aware, that this reservoir is only compatible with
the Laing DDC pump. A closer look at the pump shows that it is able to move 420 liters of water within one hour. If you consider the compact size as well as the low operating noise, then this is a good result. When checking the threads we once again find G1/4 inch connections.
Fittings and tubing
When
it comes to tubings there are transparent ones with an outer diameter of 13
millimeter and an inner diameter of 10 millimeters. These tubes, they certainly
look nice, but they kink quite easily. If you want to achieve a tight bending
radius you should consider wrapping these tubes in springs, which you'll also
find in Aquatunings shop.
Regarding the fittings, Aquatuning uses 13/10mm ,1/4 inch ones, which are made
from copper entirely. Those fittings offer great looks and thanks to the fact
that they are quite big it's easy to tighten tubings without the need of a
gripper.
Fan
A closer
look at the fans reveals that Aquatuning bundles this high-quality radiator with
Noiseblocker e-Loop B12-2, 120 millimeter fans. They feature a 3-pin header and
run at 1300 rpm. If you don't use a fan controller or a voltage regulation adapter,
the fans will be silent. If you do reduce the rpm you can make them inaudible.
Aquatuning chose to bundle this radiator with excellent fans and it's not only
the performance and the noiselevel which is impressive. They fit perfectly
regarding their black and white design.

Installation
Installing
a custom watercooling kit always takes time. In case of this Aquatuning kit we
had to actually check their website for how to put the reservoir on the pump.
Once this is done it's hard to do anything wrong. The socket kit for the CPU
cooler is well done and it keeps the cooler perfectly in place. You also don't
need any tools to install it, just your hands. Same goes for the compression
fittings. We didn't have to use a gripper to make them fit tight. It's enoug to
tighten them by hand. Once all the things are in place and the tubes have the
right length, you can bleed the system, which is piece of cake, thanks to the
big reservoir.

Overall Aquatuning was able to
impress with this watercooling kit. The build quality of all the
components included in the bundle is very good and also cooling
performance is where you expect it to be, when having a triple radiator
in the loop. The radiator is actually cream of the crop and together with the black and white
Noiseblocker fans, the looks are astonishing. Apart from that we liked
the compression fittings. If only there was a detailed manual for the reservoir, we would love to see
get that, since installing it on the Laing pump isn't self explanatory. |

The installation is quite
easy and almost self explanatory, apart from the reservoir, where we had to
check out some pictures on Aquatuning's website. Nevertheless you should take yourself some
time to route the tubes neatly. Regarding the fittings, we think that
Aquatuning made a great choice putting high quality compression fittings
in the delivery.
Thanks to their size you won't need a gripper to tighten them, you can
do it by hand easily. As we already mentioned, we would have loved to
find a manual in the box of the reservoir, since installing it on the
Laing pump isn't that easy. Last but not least you want to bleed the system, which is easy
thanks to the reservoir and the adequate, integrated pump. |

To test this
Aquatuing kit we used the three fans, which were in the delivery. When driving the fans at 7 volt, they
were very silent and driven at 12 volt and 1300 rpm they were silent. The
temperatures are very good in all cases. It doens't really matter if you use a push or
a pull setup but still, pull will give you a slight advantage.

Should
you be looking for a custom watercooling kit with a high-end radiator, then you won't do anything wrong,
chosing this kit from Aquatuning. Obviously it costs more than an all-in-one
solution and since there is a really great radiator included with excellent fans,
you shouldn't expect this kit to be cheap. At more than 310 Euro, you have to
spend quite some money but for that, an enthusiast gets an excellent looking and
well performing custom watercooling kit. |
