EpicGear Blade and Hybrid Pad Review

With the Blade, EpicGear have a gaming mouse in their portfolio, that sports a rather aggressive price tag, which apparently comes at the cost of a low resolution sensor. In this case, there is an Avageo ADNS-3050 with 2000 DPI, with which the maker of this mouse won't break any records. Apart from that we were testing this mouse on an EpicGear Hybrid Pad, which we will also have a quick look at on the following pages.

Closer Look
As you can see, the body has been colored black and there are small orange details. Compared to the models so far tested, Blade from EpicGear slightly bigger, measuring 122mm x 80.2mm x 36mmand weighs 93 grams. On the left profile, there are two buttons, that are to be used with your right hand thumb. In other words this mouse has been designed for right handed people. The mouse wheel, backlit, it is completely smooth and very fluid. Behind the mouse wheel are positioned two buttons for the control of DPI, in orange color as the logo of the manufacturer. Blade has 7 pre-programmed keys.

EpicGear Blade uses the Avago 3050 sensor with 2000 DPI, positioned in the center of the mouse. As you can see, unlike other models, EpicGear has equipped this mouse with three small padsurfer. The braided cable is long, more than 1.5 meters and of excellent quality with a black and orange color scheme.

| The overall build quality isn't too bad if you consider that this is a budget gaming mouse. We like the coating, which feels soft and comfortable. Another decent addition is the braided cable which looks and feels good. |

| Blade uses the Avago ADNS-3050 with 2000 DPI of resolution, rather low compared to the average of the products tested but still enough. The mouse is designed for those who love the "palm" and "claw" grip. After a few hours of use, we can only say that we found the DPI buttons too uncomfortable. | We have tested the mouse with the EpicGear Hybrid Pad. The bottom part of this mousepad is made from relatively soft foam material, which comes with a certain kind of memory effect. The actual surface is made from cloth and allows for precise tracking. Overall this is a decent mousepad if there wasn't this distinct memory effect that makes the mouse sinking into the pad as soon as you wrap your hand around the rodent. | - Performance | - Memory effect | |

| If you are looking for a plug-n-play mouse with 7 buttons and good
overall performance, then EpicGear Blade can be a rather good choice. The price is very aggressive
and on Geizhals you can find offers starting at 30 euro excluding shipping costs. EpicGear Hybrid Pad is an interesting product with a competitive price-tag too. The overall performance is decent and for about 12 Euro (shipping excluded) you get a 292 x 208 x 3 millimeter mousepad. |
