Gliding characteristics
The
mousepad has been tested with different mice. The brands therefore are
Razer, Logitech, Steelseries and of course also Roccat whereas all the
manufacturers mentioned are well-known for their gaming peripherals.
Moving the mouse over the Sota results in a silent rubbing noise which
you wont hear whilst you're playing a game. Generally we categorize the
gliding characteristics of this specific mousepad between good and very
good.
Regarding the Sota Roccat definitely chooses its own ways. The hard but
still flexibil gaming surface comes with a rubber under side which in
fact is an interesting mix. The pad is therefore flexible and soft which
in the end reduces noise. Also very good is the fact that every mouse we
tests was gliding very well over the Sota and it doesn't matter where
the mouse is positioned the feeling always is the same. |
Comfort
Due
to the fact that the mousepad is thin its edge doesn't cut into your
wrist. Furthermore its size is perfect for every mouse and every kind of
player. Thanks to the hard surface it can also be cleaned easily. Just
take a wet rag wipe over it and and the Sota look like new again. |
Stability / Adhesive properties
Thanks
to its rubber coated underside the Sota doesn't slide over your table it
always stays at the exact same spot. It can only be move if you use
force or you lift it up. It also has no impact wether you put the Sota
on a smooth table or if you have it positioned on a rough wooden
surface. The mousepad doesn't consist of hard plastic completely in fact
most of the gaming surface is made of rubber which is the soft and very
grippy under side. Furthermore Roccat integrated a very thin metal layer
optimize the pad for optical and laser mice. |

Conclusion
Overall
the Sota has been able to convince us. It is comfortable, its gliding
characteristics are very good and its part of an intelligent desktop management
system, Rocat SDMS. The mixture between a hard plastic surface and the rubber
under side and the fact that its therefore flexible and soft, makes the Sota
quite unique. With its size the Sota also is neither too big nor too small, its
just right. If you decide to buy it, it wont take you very long until you got
familiar with it. Having a hard plastic surface the Sota also is easy to clean,
just take a wet rag, wipe over it and you're done.
We can recommend the Sota mousepad to gamers as well as desktop user who want to
stay up to date. One of the best things about the Sota is its price. Buying a
very good gaming surface will only set you CHF 26.- (est. EUR 17.-) back which
is a bargain.
The Roccat Sota can be bought at Digitec to a price of CHF
26.- (est. EUR 17.-).
