If we look at the delivery this motherboard the one which came with the most accessories added out of all the socket 1156 products we tested. This is the case even when we look at the board from an extreme-overclockers perspective.
EVGA E-Leet | Allows you to overclock on the fly with Windows running. |
EVGA SPD Utility | Allows you to read all the voltages, temperatures as well as fan rotation speeds within windows. |
EVGA provided the P55 Classified 200 with a black PCB. The memory slots as well as the expansion slots were painted red and the whole board itself just looks astonishingly good. In fact we think this motherboard belongs to the best looking pieces of hardware ever made. As you might have expected also the layout is almost perfect. Only the X-Cool jumper and the Start-, Reset- and CMOS buttons could have been positioned a bit better. The first one is very close to the heatpipe and the last ones are being covered if you run a multi-GPU setup.
EVGA equipped the P55 Classified 200 with a digital ten plus two phase power design. Because of this they didn't need to put big capacitors on the board and that's why there is a lot of space around the CPU socket. As a result of that installing a huge CPU cooler isn't problematic at all.
Totally you'll find four DIMM-slots on the EVGA P55 Classified 200. Officially supported are DDR3-2600+/2000/1800/1600/1333/1066 with up to 16 GByte capacity.
Southbridge as well as current converters are being held at adequate temperatures via a passive heatpipe cooling solution. Furthermore it also looks exceptionally good and it has been manufactured perfectly.
Totally EVGA provided the P55 Classified 200 with six SATA ports of which all have been angled. You find them all located below the memory slots. If you set up a multi-GPU setup using the last slot it is still possible to use the connectors at the bottom edge of the board. Almost standard with motherboards these days are the Start, Reset, CLR-CMOS and MemOK! buttons which can be very useful, especially if you do overclocking. At this piont EVGA decided to even go a step further. The added a control panel using which you can give up to 0.2 Volt more on the CPU and 0.1 Volt more on the VTT-CPU. Furthermore there also is a BCD display that shows the status while the system is booting.
Totally you'll find seven fan header on the P55 Classified 200 which is more than enough, to provide a well equipped midrange or high-end-system with fresh air. The fanheaders are located around the CPU socket as well as at the bottom edge of the mainboard. A bit special with EVGA are the black fan headers. Another highlight is the X-Cool Jumper which is of use for extreme overclocking. What it actually does is moving the the cold bug or cold boot further down or best case there will be no more cold bug anymore.
Looking at the external connectors EVGA provided the P55 Classified 200 with one a PS2 mouse and keyboard connector, six USB 2.0/1.1 ports, a firewire port, an eSATA connector, two gigabit ethernet port as well as an analog audio panel.

3DMark 06 is getting older these days. Therefore if you are using really powerful graphic cards you will hit CPU limitation which means that the graphic card isn't the bottleneck in the system. This is also the reason why in recent high-end desktop systems 3DMark 06 scales nicely with the CPU and the graphic card has much less influence on the scores.

3DMark Vantage is able to squeeze nearly everything out of a recent system. Therefore the feature liste is also pretty long: DirectX10, FP16-HDR, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping, GPU-physics simulation and different shader effects are being used to even make recent high-end systems struggle.

Crysis is still one of the games which has very high system requirements. Therefore developer Crytek implemented Direct3D-10-API, High-Dynamic-Range-Rendering, Parallax Occlusion Mapping, Soft Shadows, Motion Blur, Depth of Field as well as Soft Particles. We test Crysis by using DirectX9 as well as DirectX10 to show CPU-sacaling especially which low resolutions. If we look at the high resolutions we are able to spot that the CPUs influence compared to the graphic card becomes much less important.

Resident Evil uses nearly every modern rendering technology: HDR, Hemisphere Lighting, Soft Shadows, Soft Particles, Field- und Motion-Blur oder auch Alpha to Coverage and static Ambient Occlusion. Furthermore Resident Evil 5 has been optimized for multicore architectures and already comes DirectX11 ready. By using the DirectX9 as well as the DirectX10 benchmark we can again show you CPU-scaling with low resolutions and the compared to the CPU overproportional influence of the graphics card at high resolutions.

Street Fighter 4 comes with an extra benchmark version which makes testing you system childrens play. At low resolutions the system requirements are pretty low and we can see CPU-scaling in the results. At high resolution the graphic card becomes more important and the CPUs clock speed has less influence on the fps.

Out of EVGA's P55 series the Classified 200 represents the flagship model. It comes with a very large delivery and some new features we've never seen before. There are for example the X-Cool jumper and also the EVGA control panel with its unique functionality. Furthermore you can even decide which of the six PCI-e slots you would like to deactivate. And yes of course, these features definitely aim at overclockers or hardcore enthusiasts. | -

Layout | + | - | |
Overall the layout leaves a well structured and organized impression. Also the colours generate a homogenous pictures of the board and for example the manufacturing quality of the heatpipe is one of the best we've ever seen. Comfortable are the angled SATA connectors which make putting new hardware in a lot easier. Last but not least, uinique is the possibility to shut down single PCI-e slots. |

Performance | + | - | |
The EVGA P55 Classified 200's performance is average and not that bad at all. But you definitely have to overclock it to really see what this magnificent piece of hardware is capable of. During an extreme overclocking session using liquid nitrogend to keep the CPU cool we were able to reach a BCLK above 270 MHz which is an absolutely astonishing value. | - Multi threade applications | ||
Overclocking | + | - | |
If you plan on doing overclocking the EVGA P55 Classified 200 is definitely the motherboard you should choose regarding socket 1156. No other board runs that stable at ultra high BLCK clock rates. But finding the corresponding BIOS settings is a completely different story. Without professionally you might be lost quite quickly. For overclocking we recommend the board only to experienced users, all the others can try it, but we promise that you'll need nerves made of solid steel. Overclocking the P55 Classified 200 can be compared with driving a race car. | -
