Imagine our planet after the nuclear holocaust. That's what the world looks like in Fallout 3. In 2077 the human race bombed itself back into Stone Age and one can be happy about the fact that there are people out there who at least speak a language, even if it's not their own ...
... fear and poverty reign this dark, contaminated planet where mutants and mosters feel free and happy. A place where no one wants to live but there is still some civilisation left. Once upon a time Washington DC was a glorious city where every American was proud of but today, 200 years after the nuclear holocaust, it's not even a shadow of its own. There is only a bunch of people living in the so called Vault 101 who don't know what the world outside looks like. They grew up isolated from cruelty and pain in an ideal world.
