Fazit

With the P55-UD5P Gigabyte created a mainboard which is based on Intels latest mainstream chipset that really is able to convice. The very good delivery as well as the high performance figures make the board an all-rounder with a clearly arranged Layout and a well chosen colour concept. Therefore we only have one little wish: probably the two additional PCI-Express port could have been painted in a more suitable colour than orange.

The Gigabyte P55 UD5 which presents itself on a blue PCB comes with a clearly arranged layout. The three buttons in the bottom right corner "Start", "Reset" as well as "CMOS_SW" are very useful but when you install three graphic cards it can be quite tricky to access them properly.

In every benchmark the P55-UD5 shows very good performance compared to Intels recent reference model. Therefore it doesn't matter if we take a closer look at 3D-performacne, theoretical benchmarks oder single-core tests. The Gigabyte derivate is just quite a lot faster than the DP55KG from Intel.

With the Gigabyte GA P55-UD5 overclocking a brandnew LGA 1156 CPU is quite easy. Therefore the board very good-natured and even if you push it too hard the P55-UD5 reboots and resets the configuration that you'll be again able to access the BIOS or continue to the normal booting procedure. How good the 225 MHz BCLK were we will see with future reviews when there are more values in our comparison tables.

Regarding the Gigabyte GA P55-UD5 we at the end can recommend the board to every customer. Therefore it doen't matter if you use the mainboard for overclocking, gaming or office/desktop applications only. In every area the board does a perfect job.

At Digitec you'll find the Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 to a price of CHF 244.- (est. EUR 161.-).
