Synology unveils a new NAS

Single HDD and IP camera ready

Synology unveiled a new NAS for the DiskStation lineup. This particular model is designed for the user on a budget, and it's called DiskStation DS115j.

Since it fits a single HDD, you can't create any RAID configuration inside the DiskStation DS115, but that choice was made to make it cheaper.

It measures 166x71x124mm and it weighs 710g, and it can fit a single 2.5”/3.5” for up to 6TB of memory. Inside the DS115j there's a Marvel Armada 370 CPU at 800MHz, with 256MB of DDR3 memory. Cooling wise, it features a 60mm fan that shouldn't be louder than 18.1dBa, for a total power consumption of 12.6W on full load, and of 3.5W in idle. It features DSM 5.0, and as far as connections are concerned, there are two Ethernet and two USB 2.0 ports, to extend the storage.

It can manage up to 5 IP cameras, and Synology actually put 2 licences to manage IP cameras in bundle with the NAS, which is already available on the market for 89.95€, covered by a 2 years warranty.
