Project CARS to get performance boost with DirectX 12

Between 30 to 40 percent

We have already written a lot about DirectX 12 and it appears that developers are as excited as we are. While Microsoft has been promising quite a performance boost with DirectX 12, Slightly Mad Studios have been talking about its own Project CARS game, which should get between 30 to 40 percent performance boost with DirectX 12.

According to Ian Bell, the Head of Studio at Slightly Mad Studios, have taken some time to shed a bit more light on DirectX 12 and its impact on Project Cars game. Slightly Mad Studios have been quite open when it comes to the game development and have previously talking with users during Beta in order to fix some bugs and issues as well as in order to bring the best possible game to the market.

While the game had some performance issues on AMD graphics cards, due to drivers problem, according to Slightly Mad Studios, it appears that they also already had a chance to play around with Microsoft's upcoming DirectX 12 API, which should bring a massive performance improvement to Project CARS game.

When asked about it on forums, Ian Bell simply replied that the performance gain will be anywhere between 30 to 40 percent and that is not only limited to PC. Slightly Mad Studios had some problems with the game on the Xbox One console and have been working hard to optimize it and that DirectX 12 version of the game also runs "extremely well" on the Xbox One.

Slightly Mad Studios also noted that there is an upcoming patch which should further improve the game on the Xbox One but the things will change a lot once DirectX 12 comes online.

Ian Bell was also quite keen to note that Project CARS does look a whole lot better than both Gran Turismo and Forza5.
