Windows 10 Update affecting multi-monitor experience

Shuttering and clipped screens

A few days ago Microsoft released a new cumulative update for Windows, named KB3213986. According to the recent reports, this update is affecting the multi-monitor gaming experience creating stuttering. Microsoft is already aware of the problem and they’re already working on a fix.

According to Microsoft this "known issue" appears when running 3D applications on systems with more than one monitor. Gamers may experience delayed or clipped screens while running 3D rendering apps like games. If your system is already affected and you can't roll-back with a backup the following might help:

  • Start the application in Windows mode
  • Plug only one monitor
