More details on Xeon E3-1200 v6 CPU series

Eight new models

Intel Kaby Lake desktop and mobile processors have been available for a few weeks however the Xeon models are still missing. According to a document that appeared on CPU-World, a batch of Xeon E3-1200 v6 processors is to be available soon. So far the list includes only quad core models and six of them have Hyperthreading on board.

The Xeon E3-1200 v6 family will include a total of eight models. As we already mentioned six will have Hyperthreading enabled and therefore two won’t. Checking base clock speeds the lowest will be 3.0 GHz and the highest 3.9 GHz. So far there are no details about the boost frequencies. In the case of the TDP the document mentions 72W for the chips that don’t have an iGP on board, while the Xeon E3-1225 v6 and E3-1245 v6 we will require 1W more due to the Intel HD 9630 integrated graphics unit.

Since the Xeon E3 series chips are not compatible with Intel’s Z270 chipset, we expect the successors of Intel’s C236 and C232 chipset to be announced soon. So far there are no details on availability or prices, but we’re pretty confident that the Xeon E3 v6 chips are soon going to be listed.
