Another teaser on the MSI X299 Godlike Gaming

With USB 3.1 Gen 2

On their official Facebook page, MSI has shown another small preview regarding their upcoming Intel X299 motherboard. So far this is the second teaser showing yet another area of the upcoming high-end motherboard. Like the previous model the new one features a completely black color scheme with several RGB LEDs.

MSI is showing the I/O panel which includes several USB ports and three Ethernet connectors. According to the image, the USB ports are wired to an ASM3142 USB 3.1 controller offering up to 16 Gb/s of bandwidth. Thanks to last weeks teaser, we believe that the new MSI X299 Godlike Gaming will be based either on an ATX or E-ATX form factor. Checking connectivity there are four PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots and three M.2 slots with M.2 Shield. So far it is unknown how Skylake-X's PCIe lanes will be split, nevertheless it is expected that all of these M.2 slots will run at PCI Express 3.0 x4 bandwidth when used in a supported configuration.

If you are thinking about buying a new PC, which is based on Intel’s X-series chipset, we suggest to wait a few weeks since by then Intel’s X299 will be out. This particular board from MSI is expected to launch next month along with a new lineup of Intel Core i9 CPUs. At the moment there aren't any new details but we are sure that other manufacturers will show little previews as well.
