New AMD Radeon RX Vega details

Up to 16GB of HBM2 memory

AMD’s RX Vega GPU has been spotted again. This time it’s been in the CompuBench database, showcasing new details like clock speeds and amount of memory. According to this latest rumor, AMD Vega will come with more VRAM than expected and some very high clock speeds. This new leak matches what was recently revealed in Linux DRM patches.

According to the leak from the CompuBench database, AMD Vega will come with core clock speeds of 1600MHz, which might be the actual, final boost clock. Furthermore the card shows a total of 16GB of HBM2 memory. At this time Vega has only be shown with dual HBM2 memory stacks. In other words this GPU might use two 8GB HBM2 memory stacks. At the moment AMD RX Vega is expected to ship with only 8GB of memory, but AMD could have changed this with more recent samples.

Due to the amount of memory it could be that we’re looking at a Radeon Instinct MI25 card. As it always is with leaks, they have to be taken with a grain of salt and the specifications visible are anything but final. Nevertheless it’s nice to see that there is a realistic chance that AMD might release a card with 16 Gigabyte of HBM2 memory.
