Gigabyte unveils X299 Aorus Gaming motherboards

Three models

At Computex 2017 Gigabyte has shown their first batch of X299 motherboards for Intel's Basin Falls platform. Meanwhile there are quite a few pictures available online. So far Gigabyte has unveiled three ATX models which are all based on the same PCB. What differs is the color scheme, the audio solution and a few connectors.

During Computex 2017, Gigabyte has unveiled a bunch of new models which belong to the Aorus Gaming series: the X299 Aorus Gaming 9, the X299 Aorus Gaming 7 and the X299 Aorus Gaming 3. All these motherboards are based on an ATX form factor and use the same PCB with some small changes. The X299 Aorus Gaming 9 is the flagship model and it packs five full-sized PCIe slots with steel reinforcements. In the case of storage you’ll find eight angled SATA ports and three M.2 slots with heatsink. Last but not least there is a dedicated audio chip which goes by the name Sound BlasterX 720 and a Killer DoubleShot Pro and an Intel GbE Lan chip.

The X299 Aorus Gaming 7 is placed a notch below the X299 Aorus Gaming 9, yet it’s based on the same PCB. Compared to the flagship model, you lose two M.2 heatsinks. The SATA port count is the same, as well as the number of M.2 ports. Furthermore we also see all the bells and whistles you'd ask for in the event of overclocking which you can also find on the X299 Aorus Gaming 9 motherboard.

Right after we have the X299 Aorus Gaming 3, which could be one of the Gigabyte's more affordable LGA2066 motherboards. This board is based on a simpler PCB but with the same amount of PCIe slots. In the case of storage you’ll find eight angled SATA ports and two M.2 slots without any heatsink. Furthermore there aren't any on-board buttons or display debug for that matter. On the X299 Aorus Gaming 3 the audio chip comes from Realtek and there is only one Intel GbE port.
