AMD Ryzen 3 1200 CPU benchmarks leak

Performance comparable to Intel Core i5-3570K

According to leaks in the SiSoft Sandra and PassMark databases, there are, what appear to be, the first benchmarks on the upcoming AMD Ryzen 3 CPUs which should become available during the upcoming months. As reported on Wccftech, the CPU tested appears to be a Ryzen 3 1200.

The Ryzen 3 1200 is a quad-core CPU with a base clock frequency that ranges from 3.1 GHz to 3.4 GHz. The CPU packs 2x 512KB L2 Cache and 2x 4MB L3 Cache, but it doesn't feature SMT. In other words this CPU is a “simple” quad-core. Before looking at all the numbers a few things need to be clarified. First of all this is an engineering sample and not the final CPU, furthermore we don't know what memory and motherboard has been used.

According to Wccftech, the Ryzen 3 1200 scores 7'043 Points while an Intel Core i5-3570k at stock clocks scores 7'151 points. In other words, the upcoming Ryzen 3 1200 isn't just a CPU for HTPC build, it's even capable of performing decently. Unfortunately it's not clear what memory speed and latencies were used for the different tests. The "Physics" test for example is very sensitive to memory bandwidth and timings.

Apart from the Passmark results there are also benchmark values on the Ryzen 3 1200 that have been spotted in the SiSoft Sandra database, where it is able to achieve 72.28 GOPS in the general benchmark. Furthermore the user has run the Whetstone Single and Double Float benchmarks hitting 54.05 and 44.81 GFLOPS respectively. These scores are really decent considering you are looking at a CPU that will priced at around $129. Having all those new chips in the lineup AMD might almost certainly launch an attack on Intel's Core i5 and i3 series models and we are quite curious to see the final performance of this chip and its overclocking potential.
