Blizzard will drop support for Windows XP and Vista in October

Warcraft 3 or Diablo II should still work

If you are a gamer you are probably already running a more recent operating system. However if you are still stuck on Windows Xp or Windows Vista, you should know that Blizzard will drop support for these two old OSes. Although Windows XP is 8 years old, this OS still holds a fairly substantial amount of market share. Later this year, World of Warcraft, Diablo III, StarCraft 2, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm will no longer be supported. Warcraft 3 or Diablo II should still work on XP and Vista.

Blizzard will begin removing support for Windows XP and Vista during next October. The change will be occurring on a tight schedule, so it won’t affect everyone at the same time. If you are running an outdated version of Windows, you should probably think about upgrading anyway since an old operating system can expose you to huge security risks. Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional can be found on sites as Kinguin for less than 30 Euro. At the moment, Windows 10 Home is available for 23.99 Euro, while Windows 10 Professional costs 25.99 Euro.

In the following you find Blizzard’s statement:Quote:
Microsoft ceased mainstream support for these versions of Windows in 2009 and 2012, respectively, but since a decent portion of our audience was still using them at the time, we continued supporting them. However, there have been three major Windows releases since Vista, and at this point, the vast majority of our audience has upgraded to one of the newer versions. After these older operating systems are no longer supported, the games will not run on them, so we encourage any players who are still using one of the older OSes to upgrade to a newer version.
