More 8th gen Intel mobile chips showing up

Coffee for the win

Intel might soon be officially introducing their Coffee Lake chips but for the time being we have to still do with what information we can find out there in the web. Since there are plenty of leaks making it through on a rather regular basis that is actually not the hardest of tasks to accomplish. Meanwhile information on upcoming mobile - U-series - parts has made it through and which we’re about to share with you here.

Let’s start with the most significant bit of information, which is the fact, that the four chips that have shown up, come with four cores and eight threads, which finally makes the U-series chips pack a decent punch. Apparently, in order to keep the TDP low Intel had to cap the clock speeds, so single-threaded performance certainly won’t blow off any roof, although the turbo clock speeds are definitely, reasonably high. We believe that these chips are going to make working on ultra-low-power notebooks much smoother - especially in combination with enough memory. Apart from the fact, that there are now four cores and eight threads the Core i5 U-series chips feature 6MB of L3 cache while the i7 U-series pieces of silicon come with 8MB of the same cache on board.

For more details on the new mobile chips we recommend you to have a look at the table below.

Those chips are expected to launch already this month. So far the price when buying 1000 pieces is $297 US for i5 parts and $409 US in the case of the i7 U-series chips.
